Margarita Mukasheva, Two times winner of Asian Games, prepares for outdoor season.

One of the most successful Kazakhstan athletes, Margarita Mukasheva returned to the sport to perform at the Asian Games in Jakarta.

Margarita is well known as one of the strongest runners at 800 metres in Asia. But she did not compete last year. Mukasheva gave birth to her son on August 28, and on October 17 she went to the first training session.

“I really miss the track-and-field athletics and I want my body to remember as soon as possible what real training and competitions are," Margarita said at the end of October last year.

She began with light physical training, gradually increased the load, and in January she went to a training session in a neighboring country - Kyrgyzstan, where she trained in the mid-mountain area on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.

"I did not immediately decide to take such a small child to Issyk-Kul, but my fears were in vain," smiles Mukasheva.

She is satisfied with her trip to Kyrgyzstan: “I felt stronger by every day. I moved forward and became more confident in my abilities“.

Now Margarita trains in Turkey, in the city of Belek. She flew there on April 1 and she would return home to Kazakhstan on April 21. Mukasheva says her training is aimed at a successful performance at the Summer Asian Games in Jakarta in August.

Earlier, she won 800 metres on two previous Asian Games – in Guangzhou 2010 and in Incheon 2014. After that, Mukasheva participated in the Rio 2016 Games and she was the second in Asian 800 metres top list with time of 2:00.46.
